Colourful Quilted Tribal Wall Decoration with Buttons and Shells

A long and colourful wall decoration probably a marriage piece made of diamond shaped panels of silk cotton in bright colours and backed in linen. The piece is traditional in design with the symbolism composed of evil eye and apotropaic magical devices of ancient origin all intended to bring luck and protection to the home.
The piece is decorated with mirror discs, shells, buttons and woollen tassels. Smaller horseshoe shaped versions of these are called ‘toran’ and are placed over entrances. These are more rare pieces.
