A rare example of folk furniture, a Hutsul box table, from Western Ukraine, a very early form of table whose manufacture persisted in remote highland regions until the end of the 19th century, the base consists of a box on high legs with uniting stretchers, made of beech, and with beautiful traditional chip-carved decoration to the front, and then a plank top, in this case, pine. The table was a food store, prep table & diner.
