The spirit of Constable lives in this small painterly oil on card by East Anglian School painter, Keith Johnson (1931-2019), he is an artist who should not be underestimated the flavour and sensations of the English countryside comes across in the best of his oil sketches as here, a village scene entitled Primrose Corners nr Panxworth,
this was his home turf, near the Norfolk Broads, & a few miles from Norwich, his use of a terracotta red ground colour for the work helps convey his emotion, giving the bleak truthful colour & Norfolk light a warm quality.
