“Post-Impressionist Landscape”, Oil on Canvas
Ref: 5147
When the big Constable exhibition came around to London some years ago I remember the experts agreeing that they all preferred the landscape sketches to the finished academy pieces, this is our modern taste, our eyes were educated by the Impressionist and the Fauvist Masters to appreciate a new way of seeing, 'plein air’ style, free and painterly renditions of sensation in nature & these we came to see as more real and immediate to our feelings than the studied composition, planned out and constructed with preparatory drawing, this painter, Beauvais, who died in 1982, aged 96, was steeped in these ideas and this is a good example of his post-Impressionsit art. An original oil on canvas, from private collection.
