Paintings Post 1900 » Impressionist view of Cotswold Town
Ref: 3665
A large original oil on canvas showing the parish church of the town of Cirencester couched amongst trees and in an ambient morning or evening light. Signed. This work is concerned with a particular English atmosphere of place, the way the sunlight illuminates the warm tones of the Cotswold stone and the man made and nature are in pleasing harmony. The same artist other works here are also concerned with capturing a particular feeling of place - the White City Gardens workis a homage to the French Impressionists and tries to capture a period gaiety whilst the Aztec citadel portrait in its moonlit unpeopled view conveys a sense of mystery.
