Houses by the Wye, Evening
Ref: 3749
A terrific example of oil on canvas by"unknown" British post-Impressionist painter Donald H Floyd in good original condition (not re-lined) and nicely framed. He lived and often painted in South West Wales especially Monmouthshire in the Wye Valley. Here the artist sees with fresh eyes, it is morning or evening and he observes the rich light and colour effects - as was noted in so many words by the critic Fairfield Porter of (in this case Monet)... a vision of joy freeing itself from conventional "melancholic" interpretations of time and landscape.
English circa 1930s
