D.H. Floyd, 'Welsh Landscape'
Ref: 5138
An original oil on canvas by British Modern, D.H.Floyd (1892-1965), he was a highly regarded artist in his day and he had a love of painting in South Wales. This work typifies his style at best which is painterly, drawing in paint, you could say, very much in the Modern tradition in which the landscape sketch is preferred over the Academy piece, plein air, French Impressionism and all that came after, the idea of conveying the sensations of nature, the colour, light, movement, keeping it fresh and real. As we have noted before with this artist he is too good to stay under the radar for ever, his works encapsulate the landscape of the place he loved in a way that does not look fake or dated.
