Three Antique Terracotta Urns with Black Splash Glaze
Ref: 5604
Three terracotta pots each with unique splashed black glaze to rim or top, one very large and heavy and 90cm x 55cm high, the other two are 60 and 65 high respectively. These decorative pots are a form of ‘arte povera’, the appeal of the humble, unpretentious and accidental, or what Zen Buddhism in the 18th century in relation to the tea ceremony called ‘wabi sabi’, an appeal to the wholesomeness of the simple, understated & incomplete, art potters at the time experimented with simple forms with random black spilled glazes just like this.
