Ref: 5418
If you are someone who likes to buy Best in Category then this could be for you…...a superb two-door marriage cupboard from Southern Germany, the muted palette of pinks and soft greys is typical of the period, Neo-Classical, this combines with a swagger of the Baroque that can be seen in the arched top moulding, the carved (not painted) sash below the top moulding, and ‘Solomonic' or spiral column pilasters also carved to the sides and with marble effect painting. Solomonic columns by the way are named after Solomon’s Temple and were a popular architectural decoration, in 3-d, flat pilaster or painted form throughout Southern German Baroque churches from the 17th century.
