A rare pair of large stone carved architectural figures with traces of original polychrome, the figures are in the style of high ranking 17th century Mughal soldiers with shield and decorative spears such as would have guarded in the inner sanctum of the Emperor at court. Figures such as this would characteristically have flanked the entrance to an important building such as a temple, shrine or mausoleum. From private collection.
