Ref: 5365
These chests coming from the Pakistan/Afghan borders the eastern valleys of the vast Himalayan range and with beautiful traditional carving to the front and bold finials at each corner. The top is a lifting lid making the piece quite practical as well as good to look at. The sides and back are hewn from single pieces of wood (pine or cedar) and this and everything about it indicates an early date of probably 18th century. Nice to see in original untouched condition.
