Rare Dug Out Bread Bowl with Carved Decoration
Ref: 2735
These dug outs were used for bread making and other purposes, this one is very unusual with it's chip carved decoration to each corner and would appeal to a folk art collector not only to someone looking for a nice table ornament.
It is also otherwise a superior piece, nicely carved, nice colour, the form of this type of bread bowl (long with pointy bits) is peculiar to this part of Europe. The sticky out prongs must have been carrying handles but the overall shape reminds me of sea urchins or bats' ears.
