Primitive Shepherd’s Coffer in Original Paint
Ref: 5238
Some in fact most of these early looking chests from the mountains have chip carved or scroll carved geometric carving but not all, here’s one that is plain, the detail is in the hewn quality of the boards, it is re-assuringly heavy, nice and clean inside and out, and in the original green over blue paint. It could have been a marriage chest or just a store for grain, this is the furniture they made for centuries in the remote highland villages.
