Painted Shepherd’s or Pilgrim’s Flask with Chip Carving
Ref: 4638
These wooden flasks are found in the mountains of Eastern Europe and although often called pilgrim’s flasks are more accurately “shepherd’s flasks” for water or some say palinka or fruit brandy and were usually carried in a leather holster that tied to the waist or belt. Often you see them with orange background colour and painted flowers, this one is quite unusual in it’s colouring and also chip carved.
