Painted Hewn Coffer with Archaic Symbols
Ref: 3637
A terrific example of an arc or hewn coffer box typical of a form found in Northern Hungary and Slovakia - made of beechwood - as typically with these antique chests they are decorated with rows of archaic geometric symbols whose meaning takes us back through the mists of time. This one is unusual in that it is decoratively painted.
