A superb pine marriage box or chest with folk art painted decoration applied directly to the pine in red, charcoal black and white - the style of painting and the form of the box is associated with the first half of the 18th century although this piece is dated ‘1815’ either a re-dating or a hangover of earlier styles. Overall very good condition and clean throughout.
