Large Hardwood Primitive Dug Out
Ref: 3866
If you asked what kinds of artefacts prehistoric communities made and used that have now expired and we don't know about then objects like this would surely be on the list of possibles.
Old dug out tree trunks are fashionable right now amongst designers being used as sculptural objects and planters in ultra cool rustic chic interiors and I've seen newly made ones not very large appearing at markets. This is a proper old with a great look, it was originally made to stand and was used as a large mortar with giant pestle to mash up food produce of some kind possibly maize. This example is especially good as it has a lovely sensuous surface is near two inch thick rim and with no woodworm.
