Harwood Mortar and Pestle

A two-handled hardwood mortar with rich patina and colour and with ash wood pestle. From the forests of the Hutsulshchyna. The shepherds made mortars in their dairies but also their doctors, or shaman did too, they were experts in nature and knew all the herbs and remedies, and were called Molnars, this piece from a private collection is likely to be used domestically for grinding herbs and potions.
