Hanging Two-Tier Shelf with Carved Figures

A rare folk art two-tier wooden shelf with carved figures, these dandies are smoking gentleman and would have had wire or wood clay pipes. The “toothed” decoration fronting each shelf are tobacco leaves. The shelves themselves have punched decoration that you sometimes see on early coffers and spells the initials D and S, presumably this was a special shelf for a farmer for his tobacco and pipes. The dress suggests 18th century if not earlier.
