Ref: 7091
A great example of marriage chest from the Kalota region of Transylvania, the painted decoration imitates textile embroidery and is typical of this area and in this period. Such a chest or box would house the dowry textiles and costume and live in the clean room hence the excellent state of preservation. These pieces were made to impress hence the additional decorative details like these hanging tassels.
