A rare extending pine marriage table with bespoke painted decoration in red and white describing tulips and wild trawberries dated to 1948, this would have been made and painted for a marriage and been part of a suite of dowry furniture living it’s life out in the ‘clean’ room and barely used. The top folds out and spins around to make a long 6 and a half foot diner. The folk painting is traditional to Hungarian villages east of Cluj or Koloszvar in Transylvania and imitates the colourful and embroidered folk costume of the area.
