Three examples of the atmospheric and ancient looking black pottery vessels that were made for domestic use throughout the Carpathian basin in present day Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania and this for a period of several thousand years - the middle one here is the earliest and has lost a handle but has the original lid with hole for a stick and this would have been used for churning. The left one and right ones are probably 19th century coming from Ruthenia/Sub-Capathian Rus and have abstract decoration - this was achieved with a special polishing stone.
