A remarkable and unusual marriage cupboard originally dating from the 18th century, single door with genre scenes in the main panels and around the perimeter a number of humorous tableau with accompanying anecdotes and wise sayings relating to country life and mostly illustrating reversals of the normal social order such as an ass instructing a man to carry barrel or a gentleman serving a country man at his table. The piece is dated to the mid-18th and it is likely to have had a full restoration in the 1920s or 30s.
