A rare example of folk art from old Transylvania, you do sometimes see beakers carved from wood belonging to the country people and shepherd’s in this region of Europe, these are a special pair made for a marriage, carefully formed from hardwood and painted. They are Saxon meaning they were made by the German tribe who settled in Transylvania in the 12th century and who maintained a vibrant and colourful folk culture there for centuries.
