Europe » Antique Duck Decoy in Original Paint
Ref: 5196
As I have said before Picasso and the Modern French painters did not get their decorative sense out of thin air, that eye for playful and colourful painterly abstract pattern was already there in the popular art around them, weathervanes, decoys, tavern signs. Here’s a French, light-wood floating decoy with traces of original painted decoration. Probably circa 1890-1900.
France c.1890
