A fine antique burr-birch wood tankard, 18th century and Norwegian, something used for guild meetings or to celebrate a marriage, the lion crowned is of course a national emblem for Norway and the object itself in it’s early form and figurative style harks back to the days of the Vikings and the mead hall toast, "Skaal!".
