Early Oak Marriage Box with Iron-Work
Ref: 6273
A splendid oak trunk or coffer with decorative strap-work in true Nordic tradition, it’s really clean with huge iron carrying handles to the sides, there’s no doubt of the early date, but as you can see, and as was typical, it’s been re-purposed within the family for a marriage in in ‘1810’ and has been inscribed to the front with date and initials in decorative white painting. In this superb condition it can last another century and more.
