Delightful Folk Art Pine Marriage Cupboard in Powder Blue & Pink
Ref: 7074
A wide two-door armoire or marriage cupboard inscribed to “MRD” and dated to “1835” just the end of the neo-classical period when blues and pastel shades remained in vogue - these colour are very much to our modern taste. This piece has framed folk painted panels of classical urns and flowers, two in each door, and floral decoration the sides, there is the lock and key, both functioning, orignal bolts (2) to left door, the interior has two drawers for keepsakes (at bottom) and pole for hanging.
We’ve tested it with modern hangars and it is suitable for hanging clothes, wider shoulder pieces only at a slight angle.
Probably Germany but the style is typical of Central Europe in general (Swiss, Austrian, Alsace, Germany). Very clean and solid.
