Once more a very good highlander smaller carved coffer and in original green paint, very good clean condition, top is nicely plain, made in medieval style from adzed beechwood, the front has a splendid mix of traditional ornamentation, nets, ‘snakes’, x-forms, the second row down is quite unusual with interlocked ‘trumpet’ forms, it’s all of ancient provenance and almost certainly is rooted in the folk beliefs of the photo-Greek & shepherd cultures who inhabited this region in the earliest of times.
