A neat example of folk sculpture from India, in hardwood, a grinder with witty ram's head, to one side a witches mark or compass circle, the ubiquitous good look charm found in folk cultures throughout the world and on the other side a floral or tree of life motif. Another reminder that even everyday objects were protected by sacred magic as their function was intimately connected to everyday prosperity and good health. This makes a neat ornament for sideboard or even kitchen use.
