Antique Stove Corner Tile with Birds & Tree of Life

A decorative corner stove tile in thick green glaze, from the folk art region of Central Transylvania, made in Almas village, the work of master maker, Alajos Kovacs, who has signed the work with his initials. No collector of Hungarian folk art is without a number of these stove tiles which make up a significant sub-genre of traditional Hungarian folk production with many of the makers and workshops known to ethnographers.
