Antique Relief Carving from the House of Contemplation
Ref: 4297
A beautifully simple and restrained antique relief carving in stone with traces of old blue paint. Two panels one showing a figure meditating and the other with symbolic flower design. This piece came from the front of a ‘kaveli', a townhouse with probably religious connotations. From Rajasthan in Northern India and dating to the late 18th century. The front was liberally carved with floral designs and it’s always special to find have a section with human carved figure. This would look great indoors but could also be a garden feature.
