Antique Flint Sledge Thresher
Ref: 7128
A wonderful decorative and interior item for wall display in the home, or public display such as in hotel or restaurant - these objects were used by village farmers/agriculturalists to thresh or turn over the soil on their small allotments - a mule would pull the heavy carved wooden slab and the flints inserted being face down would rake over the soil, it was essentially a sledge and children would sit on it for fun but also to add weight and make the threshing more effective.
Objects such as these were undoubtedly made and used in just the same way in the Mediterranean for thousands of years.
