Anatomical Model of Man Torso & Head
Ref: 4109
A large anatomical model of the torso and head of a man, with several removable parts, hand painted probably first half of 20th cent. There is a crossover of art and science here, Vesalius and Leonardo made drawings of anatomy & the circulatory system, students in the classical system, modelled and drew in the life room, figures such as these were made for teaching purposes, but must have made by artists, their hand made quality makes them striking and cool decorative objects nowadays. Some minor losses but overall condition is very good for its age.
Central Europe late 19th/ early 20th cent.
