The Roundhouse, Braunston, Primitive School
Ref: 5166
One branch of local, naive or primitive art we have touched on before is paintings that record buildings & homes, a genre that was common especially in the days before photography was widely available, and there were even amateur painters who specialised in this genre of folk art. Here is an appealingly fresh oil on canvas of the Roundhouse, in it’s surrounding landscape of trees, it is an unusual estate building near Eastfield House in Braunston, Daventry. A map even comes with the painting to show you exactly where the building is.
