Ref: 1714
An unusual piece of working class English folk art pottery, a large terracotta ale jug, with single handle and grotesque comic head forming the spout. “..PLINS ALES” can be discerned feintly (a long lost London brewery?) and on the base it is signed “Gordon Wat(?) Clapham 1906”. Mad magazine meets the Martin Brothers whilst the stippling to the base recalls the much treasured pottery pigs. Some losses to the spout but not especially detrimental.
