Original Painted Pine & Oak Tavern Table
Ref: 4367
A great look and colour to this classic West Country tavern table, the base has the form and structure you look for, an x-frame with chamfered legs, and supporting members, all heavy and solid with original metal bolts, ash (or oak) in the original colour.
The top is pine with rich patina, it’s been there a long time and evidently was put on top of the original top which is still there, underneath, two planks in either pine or oak. The original top has no overhang which was typical of these tables, the later one gives the table some overhang all around making it presumably suitable as an informal diner so we thought we’d keep it there and let the next owner decide.
From private collection.
