Ref: 3522
A modest and historic piece of Welsh folk furniture, this is a painted pine box settle in original condition, from the 70-acre Cae Llwyd Farm in the village of Penmachno, high up on the slopes of the Snowdownia National Park in North/Central Wales - it is solid pine with the original scumble paint and nice areas of wear and colour, the seat/ lid lifts off to storage within, from the side view the piece makes a bold silhouette which is typical in form of Welsh farmhouse settles.
Of interest this was the family settle belonging to Gwyn Jones (1945-2017), who ran the family farm but was also a gifted sheep dog trainer and triallist, known as "Gwyn Penmachno", he won the supreme International 3 times, the National 3 times and was twice winner of the BBC's "One Man and his Dog".
