English Naive School ‘The Homecoming’
Ref: 5482
Here’s a charming and quintessentially English naive school work by an anonymous artist, a medium to large oil on board with later frame dating probably to the later 19th century, it’s one mans vision of his farm & smallholding as the 'peaceable kingdom’, a homecoming, man, family, domesticated animals & nature itself in harmony, there is a warmth to the colours, where draughtsmanship fails to impress feeling makes up for it, so there is a child-like quality to the figures and directness in the attempt convey the beauty of the landscape.
