Irish Elm Dresser with Carving in Original Paint
Ref: 5872
A rare Irish dresser, in several respects, firstly it’s elm and throughout not pine, in two pieces also unusual, it has five drawers including three spice drawers plus a small shelf for candles probably that is between the two shelves in the rack on the right hand side, foremost is the carved cornice with floral motif, not at all common. A pocket diary in the drawer reveals that the dresser came from a farmhouse in County Kilkenny in the south-west. Like most Irish country furniture it was over-painted, we’ve taken that back to it’s original colouring.
