Folk Art Peasant Chair in Original Paint
Ref: 6583
An oak and ash wood peasant chair or spinning stool, it’s re-assuringly heavy and solid, in original green paint with red under paint. The peasant stools of Hungary and Romania are a branch of folk art in themselves and the makers were often playful with the traditional forms making their chairs and stools especially in their back rests animated and lively in witty ways marking them out from the ordinary Austrian ‘brett-sthle’. In comparison to British primitives these remain very affordable but expect to see a price uplift soon as collectors are on the increase.
