Fine Caned, Gilded & Painted Regency Arm Chair

A finely made English Regency chair probably beechwood with unusual lion paw arm supports in the manner of Thomas Hope, the caned seat is tight and comes with cushion, the legs are turned slender and elegantly swept in the period style, a latticed back rest is overtopped by a painted panel that describes “Lady Justice’ with nymphs suggesting this piece was made for the private rooms of the lady of the house. The provenance deserves further research both in terms of the designer & owner.
