Ref: 5433
Here is one of the more beautiful type of sarcophagus or Wallachian chests to be found in the hill countries of Eastern Europe, they are named as such after the Vlach shepherd’s who have made them for centuries. This one came from a private collection in Hungary, it is very clean condition, and the symbols carved on it, all apotropaic devices intended to counteract witchcraft, are both decorative and quite rare examples.
