A rare 19th century beechwood coffer with unusual carved details and in red and blue paint. These are called sarcophagus chests as their form is borrowed from classical stone tombs or sarcophagi. They are also known in parts as Wallachian chests as they originate from the Vlach shepherds or Highlanders.
