Primitive Chest or Box in Cedar Wood

A wonderfully primitive and rare piece of furniture, a box, fashioned from hewn and wide boards of mountain cedar wood, absence of decoration other than two finials at either end. It may have been used as a grain store. It comes from the Hindu Kush, near the borders of Afghanistan and Pakistan and from the remote mountains of Nuristan and the tribal Kalash people said to be descended from the followers of Alexander the Great.
