Lovely White and Red Folk Painted Dowry
Ref: 2560
This box comes from an area which in translation means "the fancy country", right up until the end of the second world war, when a bride was married she would have a a suite of furniture made (and some inherited) and all decorated with this particular style of folk painting with red, yellow and white colouring and flowers. The folk costume was the same. This is a lovely example of this type of folk painted furniture, excellent clean condition and nice colour and wear. This piece may have been inherited and formed part of the dowry of Anna Thomas in 1942.
