Long Folk Painted Pine Marriage Box
Ref: 6738
A classic example of folk art from the Land of the Szekely in Eastern Transylvania, very good condition and clean to interior with large candle-box, these superior marriage boxes were made in the workshops of Cernat, north east of Brasov in what is now Romania. The Hungarians who used them call them ‘tulip boxes’ the floral decoration is traditional and highly symbolic. The box sits on small feet and could used as end of bed, hall piece or for elsewhere as both box (storage) or as bench (seating).
