A nicely proportioned and scroll-carved shepherd’s chest from the Carpathian mountains. Sometimes called sarcophagus chests owing to their design being similar to that of ancient tombs. These chests or coffers were in fact made in this part of Europe continuously since classical times. Beechwood.
