A large painted pine folk art decorated marriage coffer or box dated '1849' although from Hungary this piece is Swabian meaning it comes from the German communities who settled the Danube plain from the late 18th century coming from Bavaria so if someone says oh this looks Bavarian they are right in a sense. These farmers were wealthy and accordingly this is a well timbered, and generous scale piece with large candlebox for jewellery.
