A charmingly fresh, aged but sound and clean cedar pine peasant box or coffer made as a marriage piece decorated with oval floral motifs and stylised cypress trees, an ancient Turkic symbol, in ochre, yellow, dark green and white on bright green ground, rich colours to accord with the festive purpose of this dowry box. At the point of marriage the young woman would travel to her new home so a box for her finer dresses and important belongings was important.
